What happened yesterday 02/28/17?
Originally published Tuesday, Feb 28, 2017
We’d like to apologize for the outage that we had yesterday 02/28 that started around mid noon EST and lasted for about 5 hours. Unfortunately Amazon Web Services, the company that we use to host Komet Sales, had some major issues with their main storage services (S3). This caused havoc on thousands of applications worldwide that just like us rely on Amazon’s infrastructure to power their services.
When we were aware of the problem our first and foremost priority was to keep our customers informed about the status of the issues. We’d like to remind everyone that when an unexpected event like this happens, you can use the official communication channels which are email@example.com, our phone +1(786) 206-0554 and our Twitter @kometsales. If your company has a spam trap please make sure to add the @kometsales.com domain to your white list.
As always we’re thankful for your business, support and comprehension.
Keyboard Shortcuts and Go To Window
Here's a short tip that I'd like to highlight again as I've noticed that many of our users don't take advantage of it: jumping from place to place using the keyboard.
The advantage of using Future Sales
Selling into the future has become an everyday action for most (if not all) companies. Before we keep going, let's just clarify the terminology for "future sales" within Komet Sales.

Allow your vendors to help you with your purchases
Buyers can become more efficient by allowing their vendors to create purchase orders on your behalf.
Are your vendors taking advantage of Komet's API?
As your buyers process orders and purchase items, the system creates the corresponding purchase order documents that are then sent via email to the vendors.

We have made additional progress in our Komet Codes standardized items as we have now come up with a list of standardized colors.
Komet Analytics will change your business
It's 2021 and making decisions based on gut feelings or past experiences with no data driving the decisions is a risky proposition. Why? Well, to get started there's just too many variables that change constantly: sales prices, product availability, product costs, freight costs, payments, etc.
Why Processing Credit Cards with Komet Sales is a no brainer!
I'll cut right to the chase: if you receive credit card companies with your company and you're not using Komet's credit card processing capabilities you're missing out BIG TIME!. Why? It's very simple: You'll be collecting the same payments, paying very similar (if not lower) fees and your users will spend a fraction of the time processing payments.
Komet Codes: Category Standardization
Last year we started a pretty large project which consists in building a list of standard products that can be used by any company in the floral industry. The purpose of this project is to accelerate business to business (B2B) transactions as right now this process requires a manual mapping which is cumbersome, time consuming and error prone.
Why it's a good idea to establish a "Short Name" for each location
Location names can be tricky: they're used to identify the locations and are used as the company name in the invoices, but sometimes these names can be just a bit too long when it comes to reports. In order to address this, there's a field in the location setup called "Short Name".
